Novice to Expert

We all start as Novices. The Journey from Novice to Expert depends on our efforts.

For any skill, there are 3 fundamental stages i.e. Novice, Amateur and Expert

Novice:

Novice is at the beginning of any curiosity. When we are hungry to learn. When we want to become something and we start.

As a novice, most of us don’t feel embarrassed to acknowledge that we don’t know it and we want to learn it.

You reach out to people and find out ways to explore your curiosity and learn it.

Novice is a sprout stage where a tiny leaf has just come out of the seed.

Amateur:

Amateur is when you have got basic information and knowledge about your field of curiosity.

But, this is most vulnerable stage. Most of the people stays here lifetime.

It’s when we progress from novice to amateur that we tend to become overconfident.

As an amateur, we take pride in our rapid progress from novice, which gives a false sense of mastery.

People tend to get delusion that they’ve become an expert after their initial force of efforts. But, it not true.

Amateur is the stage where most of us give up or drop the learnings.

Advancing from novice to amateur can break your rethinking cycle.

Amateur is the stage, where you’ve to go through lot of iterations. You may need to change your beliefs and learning as you progress.

Amateur is when you become a small plant with initial visible progress as you can blossom some flowers.

You start getting some traction as an amateur, but you’re not seen as an expert. But if keep learning as you grow, you can save yourself from getting crushed by an harsh external environment. And after large efforts and experience, you can establish yourself as an expert.

But if you remain stubborn on your limited knowledge, you’ll be a lifelong amateur i.e. not grow as a Tree.

Journey from Novice to Amateur is easy in comparison to the Journey from Amateur to Expert.

To become an expert, you need to show up consistently.

Expert:

You become an expert when you put large amount of consistent efforts. You might have come across 10000 hours rule. If not, search about it.

Its basically when you become a large strong tree which can withstand all kind of weathers.

An expert has gone through a lots of success and failures. She has seen all kind of seasons.

An expert is focused on growth. He doesn’t loose its sight on small hiccups.

An expert is like a tree, who is able to shed out all old beliefs same as a tree sheds all its leaves in fall.

An expert can easily adjust to new knowledge and wisdom. She can rethink on her position and learn new things as time or situation demands. That’s what mainly separates him from Amateur.

The journey is difficult and that's what make you tough to withstand all ups and downs.

This is the stage when all your efforts get paid significantly.
